"Highly interesting concerts and performances, inspiring sound experiences, great artists and an enthusiastic audience: Ingo Metzmacher and his team have mastered their start with the KunstFestSpiele excellently," said Lord Mayor Stefan Schostok, congratulating everyone involved. In 2016, Ingo Metzmacher celebrated his debut as artistic director of the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen, opening up the festival to the city and appealing to new audiences with new formats. The new artistic director and team presented 20 productions from the fields of music theater, concert, theater, performance and installation. As a new festival center, the Spiegelzelt provided a place for culinary encounters with the freitagsküche from Frankfurt during the day and offered space for concerts and DJ sets by Feinkost Lampe, and a dance floor in the evening. Impressive productions such as the concert Inuksuit by John Luther with 60 percussionists in the Great Garden, Isabelle Faust's violin solo in the Gallery or the Cage Reenactment by Daniel Wetzel (Rimini Protokoll) in the Orangerie were highlights of the 18-day festival.
