About us

The KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen is an annual international festival in Hanover. The interdisciplinary programme of concerts, music-theatre, hybrid art, performances, dance, club and installations by international visual artists offers unique artistic experiences every year.
2026 is a special year for the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen: in her first festival edition, the new artistic director and composer Brigitta Muntendorf opens up new perspectives on art and society between Baroque gardens and digital worlds – innovative, surprising and accessible to everyone. From 22.5 to 7.6 2026, the 17th edition of the KunstFestSpiele will present a programme full of innovative artistic formats combining art, technology and science.
Some of the artistic works on display, created in cooperation with local and international partners, have been specially commissioned and developed for the venues of the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen. A special highlight and new addition to the programme is the KinderKunstSpektakel, two days full of activities for children, families and anyone curious about the Herrenhausen Gardens.
The central festival venues – the Galerie and Orangerie, the Großer Garten and the Arne Jacobsen Foyer – are located in the magnificent setting of the Herrenhausen Gardens. The DHC-Halle is located in the immediate vicinity of the Herrenhausen Gardens. In the KunstFestSpiele's festival centre in the Herrenhausen Gardens, the artists, staff and audience meet in a relaxed atmosphere with gastronomic and artistic accompaniment from the freitagsküche collective.
