About the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen

The KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen is an outstanding festival with music-theatre, performances, dance, concerts and installations. From May 15 to June 1 2020 numerous formats – most of them specially developed for the KunstFestSpiele – can be seen.
For the 10th anniversary in 2019, festival director Ingo Metzmacher had put together a unique programme with new artistic highlights that overcome boundaries and connect artists and audience.

The central festival venues – the Galerie and Orangerie, the Großer Garten, the Arne Jacobsen Foyer – are situated within the magnificent setting of the Herrenhausen Gardens. In 2019, venues outside the gardens took the festival into the heart of the city of Hannover. In the festival tent, the lively centre of the KunstFestSpiele, festival participants and audience can meet in a relaxed atmosphere.

Highlights 2019 were works by Peter Sellars, Gidon Kremer, Romeo Castellucci, Kate McIntosh, Rebecca Saunders, a big birthday party and a concert with music from Frank Zappa by the Ensemble Modern.
